Bula L Ruddell was born on 4 August 1896 at Missouri; likely Schuyler County. She was the daughter of John Nile Ruddell and Alice "Allie" Mae Myers. Bula L Ruddell appeared on the census of 1900 in the household of her father, John Nile Ruddell at Schuyler County, Missouri, as Beula age three. Bula L Ruddell appeared on the census of 1910 in the household of her father, John Nile Ruddell at Schuyler County, Missouri, as age fifteen and attending school. Bula L Ruddell suffered the death of her mother, Allie Mae (Myers) Ruddell on 15 September 1912 at Prairie Township, Schuyler County, Missouri. Bula L Ruddell suffered the death of her sister, Blanche (Ruddell) Lile on 3 February 1919 at Prairie Township, Schuyler County, Missouri. Bula L Ruddell appeared on the census of 1920 in the household of her father, John Nile Ruddell at Schuyler County, Missouri, as age 23 and a salesperson in a dry goods store.

Bula L Ruddell lived in April 1930 at 215 1/2 South Franklin, Kirksville, Adair County, Missouri. She was a stenographer at a college in April 1930 at Kirksville, Missouri. She appeared on the census of 1930 at Adair County, Missouri; enumerated 19 April. Bula Ruddell was enumerated as the 26 year old single head of household and was paying $28 rent.

Bula L Ruddell moved circa 1933 to Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. She and Hazel Iona Ruddell lived in April 1940 at 43 Forest Street, Kansas City, Missouri. Bula L Ruddell was employed by the county courthouse as a stenographer and was a staff member of the Kansas City Court of Appeals in April 1940 at Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. She and Hazel Iona Ruddell appeared on the census of 1940 at Jackson County, Missouri; enumerated 13 April. Hazel Rudell was enumerated as the 42 year old head of household. Her sister Pula L Rudell was enumerated as age 44. They were paying $33 monthly rent and both had completed four years of high school. Hazel was not working and had earned no income during 1939. Pula had worked 50 weeks during 1939, earning $1,500. Bula L Ruddell suffered the death of her father, John Nile Ruddell on 24 September 1941 at Queen City, Schuyler County, Missouri. Bula L Ruddell and Hazel Iona Ruddell lived in November 1953 at 2941 Forest, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri.

Researcher's Note: Records found for Miss Ruddell are not consistent as to her age and spelling of her name. 1900 and 1910 census records for Schuyler County, Missouri are fairly close. In 1900 she is listed as Beula age 3, born August 1896 and in 1910 she is Beulah age 15. About a 2 year difference. In 1920 again in Schuyler County she is Beaulah age 23, having aged about 8 years during the 10 years.

In 1930 in Adair County she is listed as Bula age 26, having aged only 3 years since 1920. 1940 finds her in Jackson County where she is listed as Pula L Rudell age 44 in her sister Hazel's household. This time she has aged 14 years. She dies in 1953 and is listed as age 51 with a birth date of 4 Aug 1902 by the informant, her sister Hazel Ruddell. So in 13 years she has aged only about 7 years.

The 1902 birth date can not be correct as she is listed in the 1900 census. Also the entry listed in the Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007 listed her date of birth as 4 August 1896 which agrees with the 1900 census entry.

In addition, she appears to have never married and all census records list her as single. However, while her death certificate states she is single it also has a letter D in the space that indicates she was divorced. No marriage or divorce record has been found as of Aug 2017.
