Researcher's Note: William married a second time on 8 September 1892 in Spickard, Grundy County, Missouri to a Mrs. George Yates (Mary Ellen Crose) born 3 December 1865 in Boone County, Indiana and died 1945. She is buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Spickard. They had a son, James Duff Brown born 10 November 1893. James married Linvelle Bashford and he died 28 August 1959. William Holmes Brown appeared on the census of 1900 at Grundy County, Missouri; enumerated 2 June. Wm. H. Brown was listed as age 58, head of household and married 8 years. He was renting his home in Spickardsville. His wife, Ellen was listed as age 28, the mother of four children with two living. Included in the household were three sons; W. W. Brown a 28 year old farm laborer, Clyde Brown age thirteen and James Brown age six. He was a Civil War veteran. He died on 3 March 1903 at Spickard, Grundy County, Missouri, at age 61. Most of his life was spent on sheep and cattle ranches from Texas to Montana. He owned a cattle ranch north of Billings, Montana, which he sold and then bought a wheat farm in Western Kansas. After selling the wheat farm, he lived for several years with his sister Maria Ellen Brittain and her husband James G. Brittain before moving to St. Joseph, Missouri. Richard Donaldson Brown appeared on the census of 1860 in the household of William Woodward Brown at Bath County, Kentucky, as age nine and had attended school within the year. Richard Donaldson Brown suffered the death of his mother, Mary Jane (Donaldson) Brown on 28 June 1862 at Bath County, Kentucky.
