     Herold Marcel Stark was born on 10 April 1921 at Cedar Springs, Kent County, Michigan; the son of Jesse Stark and Alta Phelps. He was graduated in 1939 at Hilltop School, Cedar Springs, Kent County, Michigan. He served as Class of 1939 Valedictorian and was all conference in basketball. He began military service on 10 April 1941 with his enlistment in the U.S. Army. During World War II he served in North Africa, Italy and France. He ended military service on 3 December 1945; with his release from service. He was employed by "the Cedar Springs Post Office for 36 years as clerk, Postmaster, and rural carrier" according to his obituary. Post Office Department records state he assumed charge of the Cedar Springs post office 31 Aug 1951, was appointed acting postmaster 5 Oct 1951, nominated 28 Feb 1952, appointed postmaster 27 Mar 1952 and was transferred 6 Jan 1961. "He served on the Cedar Springs School Board for 15 years, he was a charter member of the Lions Club, a member of Rotary, and served on several community committees."

Herold Marcel Stark died on 28 July 2010 at Cedar Springs, Kent County, Michigan, at age 89; at his home. Visitation was held on 1 August 2010 at Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, from 2 till 5 p.m. Funeral services were held on 2 August 2010 at The Springs Church, Cedar Springs, Kent County, Michigan; at 11 a.m. with Pastor Barry Briggs officiating. He was buried with military honors on 2 August 2010 at Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs, Kent County, Michigan.

He was Methodist and a member of the Grenada church where he attended Sunday School and worship services regularly. Winston E. Penn was also known as Piker. He was described as young in spirit, exuberant, happy natured, jovial, loyal and considerate of others. He was a special state agent with the Liverpool, London and Globe Insurance Company and regarded as an expert in the insurance business at Grenada, Grenada County, Mississippi. Winston Penn never married, but was devoted to those related to him. Early in December 1931, Winston Penn spent ten days in the Grenada Hospital receiving treatment, but did not respond as hoped. He was transferred to the Methodist Hospital in Memphis for surgery where he remained for about three weeks. On Tuesday night, December 29th, he developed pneumonia.

Winston E. Penn died on 30 December 1931 at Methodist Hospital, Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, at age 59; at 4:45 pm. Funeral services were held on 31 December 1931; at 2:30 pm in his brother, E. A. Penn's home on Thrid Street. The services were conducted by the pastor of the Methodist church, Rev. L. M. Lipscomb, assisted by Rev. E. Lucien Malone, rector of All Saints Episcopal Church. He was buried on 31 December 1931 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Grenada, Grenada County, Mississippi.
