     Mary Lucretia Carpenter was born on 18 January 1850 in Daviess County, Kentucky. She married James Phillip Lashbrook, son of Achilles Asa Lashbrook and Martha Ann Johnson, on 14 April 1868 in Daviess County, Kentucky.

In 1880 the family farm included 80 acres of improved land and 24 acres of unimproved land. The total value including land, buildings, machinery and livestock was 4,700 dollars. Wages of 250 dollars paid for 80 weeks of work produced 325 dollars worth of produce. Livestock included five horses, and three milk cows which produced 300 pounds of butter the previous year. The farm also included 5 additional cattle, 2 of which were sold and one of which was slaughtered, 50 sheep which produced 150 pounds of fleece, 18 swine and 30 chickens which produced 150 eggs. During the previous year 18 acres of land were used to produce 500 bushels of indian corn, and 4 acres were used to produce 30 wheat. Additional crop produced 15 pounds of potatoes and 10,000 pounds of tobacco. Three acres of land held 50 apple trees which produced 200 pounds of apples and bee hives which produced 30 pounds of honey.

Mary Lucretia (Carpenter) Lashbrook died on 14 May 1897 in Daviess County, Kentucky, at age 47. She was buried in Elmwood-Rose Hill Cemetery, Owensboro, Daviess County, Kentucky.
