Marvin Jewel Smeathers was born on 2 April 1915 in Maceo, Daviess County, Kentucky, son of Jerome Houston Smeathers and Merle Scott. He was the son of Jerome Houston Smeathers and Merle Scott.
Marvin Jewel Smeathers graduated circa 1942 from Daviess County High School, Daviess County, Kentucky. He began military service on 15 May 1942 in Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, as a Private in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Kelly Field as a Private in May 1943 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.

Daniel and Mary Louise Lashbrook, on 21 May 1943 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, at the First Baptist church at 2:00 in the afternoon with pastor, Dr. Perry L. He was a charter member of the board of Southern States Co-Operative and was helpful in getting Kentucky Wesleyan College to move to Owensboro. He had also been involved in many church activities and was a former deacon of Yellow Creek Baptist Church. At the time of his death in 1990 he had retired as a farmer.

A bond for the marriage of William Barnett Barnett and Tabitha Paddox was signed on 10 August 1799 in Mercer County, Kentucky, by William Barnett and Robert Burton binding them to James Garrard Esq Governer of Kentucky in the sum of Fifty Pounds current money in the event the marriage did not take place. William Barnett Barnett married Tabitha Paddox, daughter of William Paddox and Sarah Little, on 15 August 1799 in Mercer County, Kentucky, a marriage bond in the sum of 50 pounds was made by William Barnett and Robert Burton on the 10th day of August 1799 to guarantee William Barnett's marriage to Tabitha Paddic. Included with the bond was a statement from William Paddic that gave Tabitha's age as 21 years as of 8 August 1799. William Barnett Barnett left a will on 22 July 1846 at Jefferson County, Kentucky, stating that except for those items mentioned in the will, he bequeathed all of his personal and real estate to his wife Tabitha during her natural life. He left John J Barnet a horse, saddle, bed, bedding, double coverlid, cow and calf. Johnathan was left a bed, bedding. After the death of Tabitha his estate was to be equally divided between his 10 children, but he stated it was to be "entirely understood" that his daughter Tabitha A Barnet was to have bed, bedding, bedstead, bureau, dressing table, and two double coverlids and that his house and premises was to remain in the hands of his daughter Tabitha as long as she remained single.
