Mary E Jones married Calvin E Cottrell, son of Reuben Cottrell and Sarah Homer Patman, on 5 March 1855 in Daviess County, Kentucky. Calvin and Mary celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at their home on 5 April 1880. The celebration was widely attended by a "throng of guests" including many family and close friends. Following a dinner which was described as a "sumptuous feast" they were given numerous presents including silver serving sets and knives, dishes and china, and a wide variety of other fine gifts. Calvin also gave his wife a set of gold rimmed spectacles.

     Thomas B Cruse was born on 29 December 1857 in Owensboro, Daviess County, Kentucky. He was the son of James B Cruse. Thomas attended Center College in Kentucky in 1874 and 1875. Thomas B Cruse was graduated in 1879 at West Point. He began military service on 13 June 1879 in Arizona as a Second Lieutenant, 6th United States Cavalry. He married Beatrice Cottrell, daughter of Calvin E Cottrell and Mary E Jones, on 14 February 1882 in Daviess County, Kentucky. While serving as a Second Lieutenant, 6th U.S. Cavalry, Thomas was awarded the Medal of Honor on 12 July 1892 for distinguished conduct in action against hostile Apache Indians at Big Dry Wash in Arizona on 17 July 1882. His citation read "Gallantly charged hostile Indians, and with his carbine compelled a party of them to keep under cover of their breastworks, thus being enabled to recover a severly wounded soldier." Thomas B Cruse was promoted to First Lieutenant on 28 September 1887. He was graduated in 1891 at Infantry-Cavalry School. He was promoted to Captain and acting Quartermaster on 1 December 1896. He was promoted to Major and Quartermaster on 5 July 1902. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and Deputy Quartermaster General on 17 February 1910. He was promoted to Colonel and Deputy Quartermaster General on 1 February 1913. He was graduated in 1916 at Army War College. He was promoted to Brigadier General on 9 January 1917. He ended military service in January 1918.

Thomas B Cruse died on 8 June 1943 in Longport, New Jersey, at age 85. He was buried on 6 June 1949 in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.

     James Thomas Cruse was born in December 1887 in Owensboro, Daviess County, Kentucky. He was the son of Thomas B Cruse and Beatrice Cottrell. James Thomas Cruse was appointed to the Naval Academy in 1903. He was graduated in April 1906 at Annapolis, Maryland. He was assigned to the Battleship Georgia in October 1906.

James Thomas Cruse died on 19 July 1907 in Chelsea Naval Hospital, Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, at age 19 ai 11:00 a.m. "after making a gallant fight against odds for recovery, kept alive for days by his indomitable courage." His cause of death was from injuries received duirng an explosion about the Battleship Georgia. He was buried on 21 July 1907 in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, at 4 o'clock. His body was accompanied by 175 men of Marine Companies A and B and the Main Band of the Marine Corp. Among the flowers was a magnificent cluster of White Magnolias, tied with broad white satin ribbon, sent by the President and Mrs. Roosevelt. The epitaph on his tombstone is a quote from his final words to a doctor who arrived shortly after the explosion "Never mind me, I am all right. Look after those other fellows."

Clyde Purcell Taylor held membership in the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a lifetime member of the National Education Association in 1934. Clyde was a candidate in the Democratic Primary on 3 August 1935 for the Democratic nomination for the office of State Superintendent of Public Instruction of Kentucky. He was buried in Elkton, Kentucky, beside his in-laws John Andrew Hampton and Florence Ritter.
