     John Landcaster was born in 1730 in England. He married Anne Cottrell, daughter of Richard Cottrell and Judith Smith, in 1753 in Virginia.

     Peter Clarke was born in 1745. He married Mary Ann Cottrell, daughter of Richard Cottrell and Judith Smith, circa 1765. According to Mary Ann's father's will, she and her husband had several children, one of whom was named Richard Clarke. Richard's grandfather left him one Negro girl in his will in 1792 stating that the profits arising from the negro were to be equally divided between the rest of Mary's children. Mary was listed in the will as deceased. Another negro woman named Mell was left to all the children together.

     (?) Nicholson married Judith Smith Cottrell, daughter of Richard Cottrell and Judith Smith, circa 1767.

     Mary Sheppard married Charles Waddell Cottrell, son of Richard Cottrell and Judith Smith, on 4 September 1777 in Henrico County, Virginia. Charles and Mary had several children, one of who was named Charles Cottrell Sheppard. This child was specifically named in the will of Richard Cottrell, father of Charles Cottrell with a bequith leaving him a negro girl named Dorcas.

     Sally Ellis was born in 1785 in Virginia. Sally Ellis was also known as Sarah. She was the daughter of William Ellis. Sally Ellis married Peter Cottrell Jr, son of Peter Cottrell and Susannah Sheppard, on 29 November 1804.

     Lucy Cottrell was born on 6 January 1805 in Henrico County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Peter Cottrell Jr and Sally Ellis. Lucy Cottrell married Bernard Reynolds on 28 January 1826 in Henrico County, Virginia. Bernard and Lucy moved to Russell County, Virginia in 1831 after their marriage.

Lucy Cottrell died on 9 December 1882 in Russell County, Virginia, at age 77.

     John Cottrell was born on 13 October 1806 in Virginia. He was the son of Peter Cottrell Jr and Sally Ellis.

     Maria Cottrell was born on 26 September 1802 in Virginia. She was the daughter of Peter Cottrell Jr and Sally Ellis. Maria Cottrell married John B Ryall on 25 March 1827 in Henrico County, Virginia.

Maria Cottrell died on 9 January 1878 in Virginia at age 75. She was buried in Barnes and Ryall Cemetery, Henrico County, Virginia.

     Sarah Cottrell was born on 10 June 1811 in Henrico County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Peter Cottrell Jr and Sally Ellis. Sarah Cottrell married Daniel Matthews on 4 March 1830 in Henrico County, Virginia, by Rev James B Taylor. Sarah (Cottrell) Matthews was widowed by the the death of Daniel Matthews before 1860 at Henrico County, Virginia.

     Peter Cottrell was born on 9 May 1817 in Virginia. He was the son of Peter Cottrell Jr and Sally Ellis.

Peter Cottrell died in October 1822 in Virginia at age 5.

     Reuben Cottrell was born on 10 November 1819 in Virginia. He was the son of Peter Cottrell Jr and Sally Ellis. A Commissioners Sale of thirty acres and an undived five sixths of thirty acres of land in Henrico County were sold on 2 September 1872, by viture of a degree of the County Court of Henrico, to settle the case of Robert H Henley versus Reuben Cottrell. The public aution of this land took place in front of the Henrico County Courthouse.

     Caroline Cottrell was born on 18 July 1823 in Virginia. She was the daughter of Peter Cottrell Jr and Sally Ellis.

     Elizabeth Deborah Cottrell was born on 19 December 1782 in Virginia. She was the daughter of Charles Waddell Cottrell and Mary Sheppard. The marriage bond, dated 29 November 1803, for Samuel and Elizabeth listed her father as Charles Cottrell. Elizabeth Deborah Cottrell married Samuel Cottrell, son of Peter Cottrell and Susannah Sheppard, on 1 December 1803 in Henrico County, Virginia.

Elizabeth (Cottrell) Cottrell died on 30 March 1853 in Henrico County, Virginia, at age 70.

     Nancy Cottrell was born on 18 November 1804 in Virginia. She was the daughter of Samuel Cottrell and Elizabeth Deborah Cottrell. Nancy Cottrell married Sheppard Brown on 6 September 1824 in Henrico County, Virginia.

Nancy Cottrell died in 1850 in Warren County, Mississippi.

     Holburn Cottrell was born on 22 June 1806 in Virginia. Holburn Cottrell was the child of Samuel Cottrell and Elizabeth Deborah Cottrell.

     Elizabeth Cottrell was born on 22 June 1815 in Virginia. She was the daughter of Samuel Cottrell and Elizabeth Deborah Cottrell. Elizabeth Cottrell married William Jennings on 3 July 1838 in Henrico County, Virginia.

Elizabeth Cottrell died on 1 June 1896 in Richmond, Virginia, at age 80.

     Martha Cottrell was born in 1817 in Virginia. She was the daughter of Samuel Cottrell and Elizabeth Deborah Cottrell.

Martha Cottrell died on 15 July 1853 in Daviess County, Kentucky.

     Emily C Cottrell was born on 20 September 1819 in Virginia. She was the daughter of Samuel Cottrell and Elizabeth Deborah Cottrell. Emily C Cottrell married Joseph A. Blunt on 18 October 1848 in Henrico County, Virginia. Emily C. (Cottrell) Blunt was widowed with the death of Joseph A. Blunt on 24 September 1858 in Richmond, Virginia. In 1883 Emily was listed in the Richmond City Directory as the widow of Joseph A. Blunt and living at 615 W. Cary Street at the time.

Emily C Cottrell died on 17 February 1892 in Richmond, Virginia, at age 72. She was buried on 18 February 1892 in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Virginia, in Section G, Lot 33.

     Benjamin Preston Cottrell was born in 1820 in Henrico County, Virginia. He was the son of Samuel Cottrell and Elizabeth Deborah Cottrell. Benjamin Preston Cottrell married Ann Octavia Drewry on 10 November 1845 in Henrico County, Virginia.

Benjamin Preston Cottrell died on 31 March 1856 in Henrico County, Virginia.

Cottrell lived on 1 June 1880 at 11 West Cary Avenue, Richmond, Independent City (Richmond), Virginia. Mariah Elizabeth (Pace) Cottrell and Benjamin J. Cottrell lived in June 1900 at Richmond, Independent City (Richmond), Virginia, at 11 West Curry Street.
