Penn, Jr. Approximately 50 guests viewed the display of wedding gifts and were served sandwiches, punch and wedding cake. Edith Gillon Penn married Jones E. Allison on 1 March 1944 at First Methodist Church, Grenada, Grenada County, Mississippi; at 6:30 p.m. with a double ring ceremony preformed by Rev. C. A. Pharr, a local Presbyterian minister. Robert C. Pettit was employed circa 1965 at the Nebraska State Historical Society, Lincoln, Nebraska. He began working part-time with the Society as a student in the late 1950s. It's estimated that he cataloged tens of thousands of items and oversaw the first computerization of records of the collections. He also donated more than 200 items to the NSHS. He suffered the death of his mother, Clara Ann (?) Pettit on 3 February 1967. Robert C. Pettit suffered the death of his father, Cecil Ernest Pettit on 20 September 1967 at Lincoln General Hospital, Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska. Robert C. Pettit suffered the death of his sister, Vesta June (Pettit) Babson on 20 July 1991 at Polk County, North Carolina. Robert C. Pettit was retired in 2001; with more than 36 years of full-time service and became a volunteer in the NSHS Museum Collections Department. "In 2002, He was awarded the Robert W. Furnas Award for outstanding contributions to the Nebraska State Historical Society."

Robert C. Pettit died on 2 December 2012 at Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska, at age 76. Visitation was held on 2 February 2013 at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, Lincoln, Nebraska, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services were held on 2 February 2013 at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska; at 10:30 a.m. officiated by Reverend Mike McMurty.
