According to her death certificate Carrie was admitted to Eastern State Hospital on 16 September 1954.

At the time of his enlistment in October 1945 he was shown as married so it would seem this was his first wife and his divorce must have occurred in a narrow window between 17 October 1945 and his second marriage on 14 August 1946. Edward Kirk Johnson married Frances Florine Pearson on 14 August 1946 in Petersburg, Virginia, at Camp Lee by John D Laida, a member of the Northern Baptist Church. This was the first marriage for Frances and the second marriage for Edward.
