Joseph Benton White married Hannah Watson White, daughter of Thomas White and Mary Bradshaw, in 1816 at Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Joseph and Hannah were the parents of eight children. "Joseph Benton White was a farmer, blacksmith and an elder in the Rocky River Presbyterian church." Joseph Benton White died on 3 November 1851 at Cabarrus County, North Carolina, at age 57.
