Gustavus Adolphus Campbell was widowed with the death of Frances Baker Pettit in February 1830 in Amherst County, Virginia. Gustavus Adolphus Campbell married Mary Elizabeth Horton on 4 June 1835 in Campbell County, Virginia. He moved from near Castle Craig in Campbell County where he had lived most of his life to Lynchburg City, Virginia in 1903.
