Rex Benjamin Sloop was appointed postmaster of Queen City in 1958, serving two years before transferring to rural mail carrier of rural route one. He was retired in 1988; with 30 years service in the post office. "Rex became a member of the Queen City Christian Church on October 14, 1999. He worked with the Extension service and was on the board of the Schuyler County Mutual Insurance Co. where he received a plaque for 27 years of service. He was a member of the Queen City Masonic Lodge #380 AF & AM, receiving his fifty year pin September 6, 1990. He was also a member of the Queen City Lion's Club."
