     Pierre LeGrand Russell was born on 27 December 1871 at Arcadia Valley, Iron County, Missouri; the son of William Russell and Mattie Keach. He moved in 1879 to Hutchins, Texas; with his parents. He moved in 1886 to Dallas, Dallas County, Texas; with his parents. He was a traveling salesman for a wholesale drug company and later "became the manager of the Texas branch of H.K. Mulford Company of Philadelphia." He became Texas manager for Sharpe & Dohme of Baltimore when they purchased the Mulford Company. He held that position until his retirement.

Pierre LeGrand Russell married Kate D. Thomas, daughter of Adrian Van Brocklin Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Nason, on 3 November 1910 at Presbyterian Church, Grenada, Grenada County, Mississippi; "at 4:30 o'clock the blessings of heaven were pronounced, by the Rev. J. C. Carothers" after being engaged for several years. "Immediately after the ceremony the bridal pair took the north bound train enroute for their Texas home." Pierre LeGrand Russell and Kate (Thomas) Russell moved in November 1910 to Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. Pierre LeGrand Russell was retired in 1936; from his position as Texas manager of Sharpe & Dohme. He was a Presbyterian. He held membership in the "Westminster Presbyterian Church for fifty-six years, served as superintendent of the Sunday school for twenty years and was an elder at the time of his death." He and Kate (Thomas) Russell lived in September 1949 at 2708 Routh, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.

William Drake Salmon appeared on the census of 1910 at Grenada County, Mississippi; enumerated 16 April. William D. Salmon was enumerated as age 40, head of household and a retail merchant. Belle T. Salmon was enumerated as his wife, age 40 and the mother of three children with two living. They owned their home free of mortgage. Included in the household were two sons, John T. age five and Thomas G. age two. Also living with the family were Belle's 71 year old widowed mother, Mary E. Thomas and Belle's 36 year old single sister, Kate Thomas. He lived in April 1910 at 303 College Street, Grenada, Grenada County, Mississippi. He appeared on the census of 1930 at Grenada County, Mississippi; enumerated 3 April. Will D. Salmon was enumerated as age 60, head of household and a retail grocery merchant. Belle Salmon was enumerated as his wife, age 60. Included in the household was a boarder, Willie Smith, a 55 year old female bank stenographer. He was the owner or co-owner of several businesses including a grocery company in Grenada and dry goods stores in Grenada and Water Valley. W. D. Salmon was very active in his community serving as a director of Grenada Bank and as a city school trustee. He was also in charge of the "home for aged and poor Negroes." He held membership in the Rotary Club. He was a Presbyterian and served as a church elder.

William Drake Salmon died on 27 June 1950 at Grenada, Grenada County, Mississippi; at 3 a.m. in his home on College Street. Funeral services were held on 28 June 1950 at Presbyterian Church, Grenada, Grenada County, Mississippi; officiated by the Rev. W. Taylor Clarke and with the church elders serving as pallbearers. He was buried on 28 June 1950 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Grenada, Grenada County, Mississippi; with Garner Brothers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Researcher's Note: Thomas appears to have married a second time to a Mary E Hughes as a Mary E. Archibald age 31 appears with him on the 1870 census and there is a Mary Archibald age 38 and widowed on the 1880 census in Greene County, AL. Living with her are an A Gibson age 31 and a Thad Gibson age 10 listed as sister and son. More work needed to prove or disprove this.

Researcher's Note: Oglethorpe University was chartered in 1835. It was located just south of Milledgeville, the state capital and governed by the Presbyterian Church. The school closed from 1862-1866 and was relocated in 1870 to the new state capital of Atlanta. Financial difficulties lead to the school closing two years later. It was later rechartered as non-denominational and continues as such in Atlanta. He married Laura Glenn Montgomery, daughter of William Milton Montgomery and Sarah Isabella Nason, on 11 November 1863 at Pleasant Ridge, Greene County, Alabama. Edwin Kerr Fulton was "was engaged in farming up to and during the war." "After the war he quit the farm, read law, was licensed and practiced in Birmingham, Ala." He appeared on the census of 1870 at Sumter County, Alabama; enumerated 9 August. Edwin Fulton was enumerated as age 31, head of household and a farmer with real estate valued at $4200 and personal property valued at $500. Laura Fulton was enumerated as age 26 and keeping house.      Dabney Arthur Lipscomb was born in March 1859 at Mississippi. He was graduated at Oxford, Lafayette County, Mississippi; from the University of Mississippi "with the degree of A.B. and two years later received the degrees of M.A. and L.L.D. from the same university." He married Mittie Fontaine on 11 July 1883 at Brandenburg, Meade County, Kentucky. Dabney Arthur Lipscomb was a teacher circa 1891 to 1894 at A. & M. College (now Mississippi State University), Starkville, Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. He held membership in the Mississippi State Teachers Association serving as president in 1893-94. Dr. Lipscomb was "a Director of the Mississippi Summer Normal at Lake, and of the University of Mississippi Summer School in 1893, 1896 and 1898." He held membership in the Southern Education Association, serving on the executive committee. He held membership in the National Education Association serving first as the director for Mississippi and later being elected vice president of the department of higher education. He was professor of English from 1894 to 1904 at University of Mississippi. As chairman of the English Department, Dr. Lipscomb introduced "specific entrance requirements which stressed preparation in literature and composition, further reducing the teaching of aesthetics and philology to freshmen and sophomores, and replacing them with training in practical composition and a historical survey of English literature." He was widowed with the death of Mittie (Fontaine) Lipscomb on 17 February 1896 at Oxford, Lafayette County, Mississippi. "In the summer of 1899 Dr. Lipscomb made a literary tour of Scotland and England, during which he contributed his Sketches of Travel." He was a Methodist.

Dabney Arthur Lipscomb died on 10 February 1931 at Columbus, Lowndes County, Mississippi, at age 71; at his home after "an illness of more than two weeks." Memorial services were held on 10 February 1931 at MSCW Whitfield Auditorium, Columbus, Lowndes County, Mississippi; at noon. Funeral services were held on 11 February 1931 at First Methodist Church, Columbus, Lowndes County, Mississippi; at 10:30 a.m., conducted "by the pastor, the Rev. J. W. Ward, assisted by the Rev. W. N. Duncan, presiding elder of the Columbus district." "Rock of Ages" and "Servant of God, Well Done," Dr. Lipscomb's favorite hymns were sung. The sophomore, junior and senior classes from Mississippi State College for Women formed a procession from the college to the church and attended the service as a group. The freshmen class stood "in reverence on the front campus" while the procession passed down College Street. He was buried on 11 February 1931 at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, Lowndes County, Mississippi; in the family plot.
