In 1850 John and Mildred’s farm in Campbell County included 200 acres of improved land, and 587 acres of unimproved land which was valued at $2091. There was also $150 worth of farming implements and machinery on the farm. Livestock included five horses, four milk cows, four working oxen, and eleven other cattle. There were also 13 sheep and 45 swine which were valued at $565. In 1850 the farm produced 120 bushels of wheat, 535 bushels of Indian corn, and 800 bushels of oats. There was also 8,000 pounds of tobacco produced during the year.

John Dinwiddie died on 14 August 1861 in Campbell County, Virginia.
