By 1849 Elisha and Sarah had moved to Burnet County, Texas and lived on a farm that contained 352 acres of improved land and 345 acres of unimproved land. The total value of the farm was $960 including the land and it contained $125 worth of farming implements and machinery. During 1850 the farm included 14 horses, one mule, 5 milk cows, 8 working oxen, 20 other cattle, 8 sheep, and 70 swine. The total value of all of the livestock was $2,572. The farm produced 30 bushels of wheat and 50 bushels of oats during the year. Family lore was that Elisha disappeared from the records during the Civil War so it is assumed he may have died during the war.

     Rev Robert Tab Bruner was born on 21 March 1837 in Hancock County, Kentucky. He was baptized in 1853 into the fellowship of the Blackford Baptist Church. He married Rebecca Leora Hale, daughter of Thomas Hale and Elizabeth Jane Moorman, on 14 July 1859 in Hancock County, Kentucky. Rev Robert Tab Bruner was ordained on 8 July 1864 at Blackford Baptist Church, Hancock County, Kentucky. Reverend Bruner wrote "Qualifications of the Administrator of Baptism" in 1880. Reverend Bruner wrote "Is Baptism Essential to Justification?" in 1894. He and Rebecca Leora (Hale) Bruner lived on 15 June 1900 at Owensboro, Daviess County, Kentucky, at 801 10th street. Reverend Bruner held membership with the Blackford Church until 188 when he moved to Bethlehem Church, then to Pellville Church, and finally to the Walnut Street Church in Owensboro. During his work as a Baptist minister, Reverend Bruner served the following churches in the Baptist Association: Panther Creek, Zion, Mt. Pleasant, Pleasant Grove, Green River, south Hampton, Stanley, Calhoun, and Old Buck Creek. Besides these he served Blackford for 16 years, Pellville for 21 years, Bethlehem, Union, Sand Spring, Lewisport, Popal Grove, Hardinsburg, Stephensport, New Bethel, Pisgah, all in Kentucky, and Rockport and Gilead in Indiana. He also served as Editor of the Green River Baptist.

Rev Robert Tab Bruner died on 14 February 1909 in Owensboro, Daviess County, Kentucky, at age 71 in the late afternoon after returning home ill after an appointment.
