     Alphonse J Soriero was born on 22 April 1910 in New York the son of Angelo and Caroline Soriero. Alphonse enlisted in the Army as a Private on 2 May 1942 at Fort Jay Governors Island, New York. His enlistment record indicates he was single, without dependents, was 67 inches high and weighed 164 pounds, and was a semiskilled chauffeur and driver of busses, taxis, trucks, and tractors. During his service he received two Purple Hearts and five Batle Stars with the First Infantry. He married Mildred E Campbell, daughter of Wade Hampton Campbell and Mary Francis McGinnis, after 1942.

In June 1958 Al and Mildred Soriero held a family picnic on the lawn of their home at Lost River in Bowling Green Kentucky.
