She married John Campbell Mitchel on 1 February 1871 in Cole County, Illinois. John was born on 9 December 1842 in Illinois and according to the information on the Find-A-Grave record died on 22 October 1916 in Ashmore Township in Coles County. He was the son of Thomas Conway Mitchel. John enlisted in Company I of the Illinois 66th Infantry Regiment on 11 February 1864 and mustered out on 7 July 1865 at Camp Logan, Kentucky. This record lists his death date as 20 October 1914. Both death dates are transcriptions but the author believes the military record to have the most likely correct date. Phebe and John were both buried in Brooks Cemetery in Embarrass in Coles County, Illinois. According to census records they had at least one child named William Thomas Mitchel.

     George Cottrell was born in 1855 in Lewis County, Missouri. He was the son of James P Cottrell and Martha Elizabeth Stipe. George Cottrell married Lillian Victoria Lyon on 4 September 1877.

By 1894 George had moved to Quincy, Illinois to fiind work. He had left his wife Vic by then and was negotiating to sell his farm in Lewis County, Missouri. In May, 1984 he returned to visit his brother's home in Lewis County, Missouri. His obituary indicated he had "frequented the wine cup...which left him in a very despondent mood...". His brother was not home but his brother's wife had been prescribed morphine. George took the morphine and died within a short time.

George Cottrell died on 28 May 1894 in Lewis County, Missouri. His cause of death was from an overdose of a combination of alcohol and liquid morphine. He was buried in Cottrell Cemetery, Lewis County, Missouri.
